Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has hired a lawyer as the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russian meddling of the 2016 election continues to grow.

Spicer hired Chris Mead, a criminal defense attorney, to handle Mueller investigation issues, the Daily Beast reported.

Mead specializes in white-collar crime, congressional committee investigations, and public corruption and election law violations, according to his bio page at London& Mead, a Washington , D.C.-based statute firm. Several other White House officials, including Vice President Mike Pence and White House adviser Jared Kushner, have retained lawyers amid the sprawling probe.

Axios reported last week that Spicer kept notes of several key moments of President Donald Trump’s first few months in office. According to the news outlet, Spicer maintained “notebook after notebook” during sessions he had as part of the Trump administration.

Spicer is one of several key White House officials that Mueller hopes to interview as part of his Russia probe.

Earlier this month the Washington Post reported that Mueller wants to speak with interim Communications Director Hope Hicks, former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, White House counsel Don McGahn, and several other officials in addition to Spicer.

Mueller’s investigation also is looking into whether or not Trump obstructed justice when he fired former FBI Director James Comey as relevant agencies was conducting a similar Russia investigation.

The investigation continues to grow. Mueller is reportedly looking into three Americans with ties to Russian business who contributed nearly$ 2 million to political monies controlled by Trump, according to ABC News.
